English Teachers’ Resource Centre was established in December.
1996
Workshops and seminars were organised for members in the Centre.
Regular meetings were organised to establish Azerbaijan English Teachers’ Association.
A group of teachers participate at the English Teachers’ International Conference held in Tbilisi, Georgia.
AzETA was officially registered by the Ministry of Justice as a non-government, not-for-profit organisation in November.
1997

1998
- Two AzETA members attend British Council event for English teachers in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
- With financial and organisational support of the British Council and US Embassy, AzETA organises its ever first conference of English Teachers in Lenkaran on 3-4 October.
1999
AzETA establishes its first Branch in Khachmaz in May.
2000 – 2002
AzETA organises workshops for teachers of different schools in Baku.
2003
- In-service teacher training project in 6 regions of Azerbaijan, including, Genje, Khachmaz, Lenkaran, Qebele, Sheki, Sumqayit funded by the British Council managed Hornby Educational Trust.
- Free office space at Baku Slavic University.
- AzETA Mini-Conference 2 in Zugulba in April.
- 1st South Caucasus ELT Conference in Tbilisi, Georgia with the financial and organisational support of the British Council offices and US Embassies in 3 South Caucasus countries in May.
- Study Tour to AzETA by English Teachers’ Association of Tajikistan (ETAT) with the financial support of Hornby Educational Trust in June.
- Establishing AzETA Ganja Branch.
2004
- AzETA 1st International ELT Conference at Baku Slavic University on 1- 2 May. Plenary speakers were: Michael Berman, ELT Specialist, UK and Patricia Sullivan, Regional English Language Officer for the US Embassy in Kyev.

- Humay Adanali, AzETA Ganja Branch Manager attends IATEFL International Conference and Exhibition in Belfast on 17-20 May with the scholarship of British Council.
